"I don’t even know where to begin, because there is no one quite like Jodie Langel. Her talent is only exceeded by her humanity and artistic heart. She is truly a gift to both the performance and teaching communities.

As an educator, quality teaching is important to me when seeking instruction for anything, but especially with my children. Jodie’s technical proficiency and attention to developing a wide range of vocal skill is deeply enhanced by her ability to hone in on the tiniest of details in vocal variation that one might overlook. More than that, Jodie has a way of focusing on the individual student and differentiating in a way that is nothing short of remarkable. This is evident in her social media videos featuring students across a broad scope of experience and ability, but nothing compares to watching the results unfold in person. Seeing the “aha” moment followed by the absolute joy on my child’s face when she hits a note that previously eluded her, just by the process of Jodie adjusting a mouth shape or vowel pronunciation (again, the tiniest of details) is purely magical. To say I am grateful to have found Jodie Langel Vocal Studios would be a huge understatement.

While the instruction is top-notch and has gone well beyond my initial expectations, more important to me is the connection Jodie has with her students. Because of schedule, budget and proximity, we are unable to maintain a weekly “standing” lesson; however, whether it has been a week or 6 or even several months, Jodie embraces my daughter with excitement and meets her exactly where she is at that moment in her vocal development, asking her about things they talked about previously, not only musically but personally. This is the secret of where she truly shines: I believe that this knowledge and connection is how Jodie is able to choose unique audition and repertoire pieces so perfectly individually selected for each student. My child sums this up in a typical tween way: “Jodie just ‘gets’ me and helps me see things I can do that I didn’t think I could do plus she talks to me like an artist and person and not just a teacher.” This is because Jodie treats her clients and their families like long-time valued friends, asking about their lives and making them feel valued far beyond the teacher-student relationship. She also takes the extra time to speak with me about my child, not just musically, but personally, and also makes the time to connect with me on a “parent to parent” level. *I* look forward to these lessons as much as my child does.

Only the tip of the praise iceberg in my heart, but suffice it to say that Jodie Langel gives far more of herself and her artistry than the value of the financial and time investment. She is above and beyond, always. This is really important to me, especially when stretching the budget and driving almost an hour to provide the best learning possible for my child. And Jodie very generously shares many of her tips and tricks on social media. NOTHING compares to working with her 1:1, but it says so much about her willingness to share her giftedness by her posting of accessible reels that are really mini lessons in themselves.

Summary- there is truly absolutely no way to summarize quickly or in a few words, but don’t hesitate to book this talented artist/mentor/human for regular lessons or audition prep. Every second is time well-invested. You will walk away with more knowledge that’s imaginable, feeling connected, valued, and looking forward to the next visit. I promise."
